Data Space is a concept introduced in 2005 as a response to the rapidly expanding demands of data everywhere. Data spaces represent a new abstraction for data management, to be implemented by means of Dataspace Support Platforms (DSSPs).
"A data space brings together relevant data infrastructures and governance frameworks in order to facilitate data pooling and sharing" - European Commission Staff Working Document on Common European Data Spaces
"Data space is a framework that supports data sharing within a data ecosystem. It provides a clear structure for participants to share, trade, and collaborate on data assets in a way that is compliant with relevant laws and regulations and ensures fair treatment for all involved." - Data Spaces Support Centre (DSSC), Funded by the European Commission
"A data space can be defined as a data ecosystem built around commonly agreed building blocks, enabling an effective and trusted sharing of data among participants to create value" - Data Space Business Alliance
"A data space is a virtual space that provides a standardized framework for data exchange, based on common protocols and formats, as well as secure and trusted data sharing mechanisms." - International Data Spaces Alliance (IDSA)
In general, data spaces are a concept of data management that briings together technology systems and rules in place to integrate and exchange data. It is a federated data ecosystem based on shared policies and rules. Data is distributed across storage points and integrated based on the need. Tools are provided for the need based discovery, access, and analysis of data distributed across industries, companies and entities.
The members of the International Open Forum on Data Society [IOFDS] deliberated and recommended the following definition for its members.
" Data Space" is a decentralized ecosystem with common policy and rules defined by a governance framework that enables secure and trustworthy data transactions between participants while supporting trust and data sovereignty.
A data space is a special collaborative environment where everyone agrees on certain basic rules and tools (i.e building blocks). The core building blocks are:
- Data Interoperability
- Data Trust
- Data Sovereignty
- Data Value Creation

The authors may submit Ttile of the Presentation, Powerpoint Slides or Abstract [upto 500 words]
1. **Conference Information**:
Details about DSW2025 in India are available under the "CFP" section on EasyChair.
2. **Submissions**:
All manuscript submissions should be made through the "Authors" section on EasyChair, which serves as the Submission portal.
3. **Registration**:
Conference registration will be handled through a separate IEEE web portal, which will be made available within a day or two. The registration link will be provided on EasyChair once it is ready.
4. **Current EasyChair Terms**:
Since the customization of EasyChair terms is still in progress, we will continue using "Authors" for both Submission and Call for Papers, while "CFP" will represent "About DSW2025 in India" for now.
