The next frontier in soft robotics lies in moving beyond pre-programmed behaviors towards systems that exhibit true autonomy and adaptive intelligence. This workshop will explore the paradigm of Physical Intelligence and advances in Human-centered healthcare, where smart material composition, morphological design, and mechanical structure are co-designed to enable robots to intrinsically sense, reason, and adapt to the real world and in vivo environment. We will focus on how this embodied approach can generate complex behaviors—from locomotion and manipulation to resilience and learning—without relying solely on centralized computation. Besides, we also open up discussion on how soft robots could represent a turning point to improve healthcare, especially women’s care through engineering innovations. The workshop is highly interdisciplinary, bridging soft robotics, materials science, mechanical engineering, embodied AI, and the medical/rehabilitation field. We will include in depth discussion, requirement analysis and demonstration of physical intelligence in action, such as robots that adapt their gait upon injury through morphological computation or manipulate biological structures. Join us to explore how encoding intelligence into the very fabric of a robot that can unlock new capabilities for operation in unpredictable and real-world scenarios and medical interventions, especially in gynecology.
Submission Guidelines
Submissions must be prepared using the standard IEEE two-column format (US letter size). LaTeX and MS Word templates can be found on the IEEE RAS paper submission support page. The following submission is required for each contribution:
- Full paper: Contributed papers should be no longer than 2 pages (excluding references). We welcome novel results, ongoing work, large-scale projects, and conceptual papers, as well as extracts from already published works in high-impact journals.
Each complete submission will undergo peer review by at least two members of the Program Committee.
